A Day on the Boardwalk During the Coney Island Mermaid Parade

The Mermaid parade is always fun to watch, but what is happening during, or later on the boardwalk or on the beach are very interesting, too.

Let me share with you what I have seen.

While the parade was still continuing on one side of the boardwalk, on the other side FDNY EMT team was treating a sick person.

A hula hoop party: People were dancing with hula hoops to a beat.

Not far from the hula hoop party I just saw, police officers were arresting a person on the boardwalk .

Two women painted all in white were performing, I think for a photo shoot it was, on the beach. And two young girls didn’t even pay attention to them, just enjoyed playing with waves.

After the parade this mermaid was walking alone on the boardwalk. I couldn read what her face was saying. She did not have a cell phone in her hand that I could see. Did she lose her friends? Or was she just tired? Or was she just going somewhere to meet her friends?
