The parade began at the corner of 63rd Street and 5th Avenue and the participants marched to 79th Street, so it was a 15 block-parade, not so long as some other ones.
The most interesting participant was The Greek Presidential Guard Evzones.
Spectators showed the greatest admiration for Evzones with the traditional full dress ceremonial uniform. (Photo: h. nazan ışık/NKENdiKEN)
They are tall! I learned that there is a minimum height requirement of 1.87 m (6′ 1″) to join. And when they march it looks like only one person is marching with mirror reflections.
And only one sound when their feet touch the ground. (Photo: h. nazan ışık/NKENdiKEN)
Several bands and floats along with hundreds Greek organizations such as schools, communities, associations and federations attended the parade.
My eyes cough these blue and white combination, flags, outfits of nuns, and even the colour of barricade.
I went to them to get their names. Showed the picture, “Oh, we are not part of it, not even spectators we are. Just waiting to cross to get home” they said. Well I still believe it was a good colour palette. (Photo: h. nazan ışık/NKENdiKEN)
