The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning. To help New Yorkers beat the heat, New York City will open cooling centers throughout the five boroughs, and pool hours will be extended.

New York City’s outdoor pools which re-opened for the summer on Saturday 26 June. Regular pool hours are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., seven days a week. But, because of the forecast, pool hours will be extended to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, August 11 through Friday, August 13.
To help New Yorkers deal with the heat, New York City will open cooling centers throughout the five boroughs beginning Tuesday, 10 August. To find a cooling center, including accessible facilities closest to you, call 311.
New Yorkers can now also find cooling centers that welcome pets throughout the five boroughs. The City has also partnered with Petco to offer New Yorkers and their pets additional spaces to seek relief from the heat. All locations can be found on the City’s Cooling Center Finder. As a reminder, service animals are always allowed at cooling centers.
