The I Have A Dream Foundation’s (IHDF) “Spirit of the Dream” annual spring gala took place in New York City on 23 May at Guastavino’s, and celebrated honorees with three awards: Spirit of the Dream Award, Eugene M Lang Lifetime Achievement Award and the David N. Dinkins Social Justice Award.
The second floor of Guastavino’s where the dinner was, was packed.
After dinner, Mayor Adams delivered remarks.

“No one should wake up to the nightmarish reality where your dream is not possible,” he said and invited U.S. House speaker Nancy Pelosi to the stage.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi was one of the honorees. She thanked IHDF and Mayor Eric Adams for their work, and accepted the
“David N. Dinkins Social Justice Award.”
Other award winners were: Nathalie Corujo-Stokes, LMSW, received Spirit of the Dream Award, and Jeffrey Gural, Chairman,GFP real EstateLLC, got Eugene M Lang Lifetime Achievement Award.

Stephanie Anduraj, alumni, said: “ I am now, an actress, singer and dancer. I couldn’t have been where I am, what I am without the I Have A Dream Foundation.”
“In 1981 Businessman Eugene M. Lang launched the first Dreamer class and in 1986, Lang formed the national “ I Have A Dream” Foundation to help launch a new generation of “I Have A Dream” Foundation. The “I Have A Dream” Foundation’s mission is to empower children (“Dreamers”) from under-resourced communities to succeed in school, college, and career by providing academic, social, and emotional support from elementary school through college, along with postsecondary tuition assistance.” says their website.
